Today I'm sharing with my readers one of the simplest and fastest "gifts from the kitchen" that a gal can make. There is just one prerequisite: you should like nuts.
Ahem. I know at least one person who does not, so she won't be getting any of this.
There are only 2 ingredients, nuts (walnuts or pecans) and a good pure maple syrup. Don't use the low calorie, sugar-free syrup. Buy the 100 precent pure maple syrup, as pictured below. For gift-giving, you want to use the best ingredients.
Here's the recipe:
Aww Nuts! (gluten-free)
1 1/2 cups walnut or pecan halves (don't chop them)
2 Tablespoons pure maple syrup
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.
In a medium-sized bowl, combine the nuts and the syrup, stirring well to coat all the nuts.
Apply cooking spray to a rimmed metal pan. Spread the nuts evenly on the pan in a single layer. Bake the nuts for 20 minutes, stirring about every 5 or 7 minutes. (Don't leave the kitchen; read a magazine in-between the times to stir, or polish your appliances)
